The "Meta 0.2” project was developed as a follow-up to Novus Nulla. During the making of this project the metaverse used for the Novus Nulla project is expended by adding "constructions" to add a new layer within the metaverse. These “constructions” represent our houses and buildings that shape the world that we live in. Adding new elements to the very shallow metaverse used for Novus Nulla (new zero) was done with the question in mind: What if you were given the opportunity to create a new virtual world, one that is closely related to our current world, how would you want to shape that world?
The project's inspiration stems from a fascination with the creation of our present-day society, where many barriers limit our ability to shape the world according to our desires. Through the act of building worlds, one is compelled to tackle various questions: How do I envision my world? What aspects of a world are crucial to me, and what elements do I want to incorporate? It serves as a thought experiment that invites us to reflect on many aspects of our current society that we often perceive as normal.
This concept has been a recurring theme throughout many of my artworks. "Meta 0.2" questions what we perceive as the fundamental elements necessary for a world to be recognized as such. Starting as an abstract form similar to a construction, it serves as the starting point for something much larger: a virtual world where one can incorporate anything.
In this metaverse, the constructions are only built when people stand in front of the world. The buildings take shapes and colours based on the person's appearance and movement. By integrating the physical world by using live data into the metaverse, the boundaries between the two realms blur and become more connected.
